Getting your first tattoo is exciting — and a little nerve-wracking. At Ersin Tattoo Bakırköy, we work with first-timers every week. The most important thing: there are no dumb questions. If you're unsure about the design, placement, size, or pain — ask. We'll walk you through everything before the needle touches skin.

The process starts with a free consultation (in person or via WhatsApp). You share your idea — even a rough concept or a reference photo — and we discuss what works realistically on skin, what size makes sense for the placement, and what the healed result will actually look like. No pressure, no commitment at this stage.

On tattoo day: eat a proper meal beforehand, stay hydrated, and wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the tattoo area. The studio opens the needle from its sterile packaging in front of you. The session usually takes 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on size.

**Wrist / inner wrist**: One of the most popular first spots. Relatively low pain, always visible (or easily hidden with a watch/bracelet). Small designs work best.

**Collarbone / clavicle area**: Clean placement, photogenic, moderate pain. Works well for fine line and minimal designs.

**Upper arm / shoulder**: Good canvas size, easy to show or hide. One of the less painful areas for larger first pieces.

**Ankle / foot**: Popular for small symbols or words. Slightly bony areas can be more sensitive, but the size is usually small enough to manage.

**Behind the ear**: Great for tiny details. Quick session, low commitment. Very popular for first tattoos.

Areas to avoid for your first time: ribs, spine, hands, feet tops, and neck. Not because they look bad — but because the pain is significantly higher and the healing is more demanding for a beginner.

The tattoo is an open wound for the first few days. Keep it clean, moisturized, and out of the sun. Your artist will apply a bandage or wrap immediately after — leave it on for the time instructed (usually 2–24 hours depending on the wrap type).

Wash gently with fragrance-free soap, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of unscented cream (Bepanthol, Bepanthen, or Cetaphil). Do this 2x daily for the first week. Don't scratch the peeling skin — let it shed naturally.

No swimming (pool, sea, lake) for 3–4 weeks. No direct sun on the fresh tattoo. Avoid tight clothing rubbing against the area. Skip gym workouts that cause heavy sweating in the tattoo zone for the first 5–7 days.

At Ersin Tattoo we provide aftercare instructions and a starter kit on tattoo day. If anything looks unusual during healing — excess redness, swelling after day 3, or unusual discharge — WhatsApp us a photo. We respond same day.

Small designs (palm-sized, simple line work): from ₺1,200. This covers a compact, well-executed minimal piece — a small symbol, word, or simple illustration.

Medium designs (fist-sized, more detail): ₺3,500–₺8,000. Covers more complex line work, small portraits, or botanical designs with shading.

Large or multi-session pieces: hourly rate. Realistic portraits, sleeve starts, and back pieces are priced per session after a consultation.
